The Electronic Logbooks - Crew List, Log Book, Oil Record Book (Part I) - are now commercially available.
They provide an easier way of handling routines and reporting onboard ships, and offer many advantages over traditional paper
logbooks such as a reduction in the need for double entries, the simplification of reporting and increased support for safer ship operations.
The use of Electronic Logbook is approved by Panama, the largest registry in the world.
KONGSBERG MARITIME AS, of Norway, has been officially RECOGNISED and
AUTHORISED by the Republic of Panama as a recognised producer of Log Books, Oil Record Books – Part I, and Crew Lists in an electronic form and is duly authorised for the manufacturing, marketing, sale, maintenance and updating of the books to be used on board Panamanian registered vessels.

The Maritime Authority of Panama has created the official “e-book” Licence in order for the “e-books” to be used on board the Panamanian ships
replacing the traditional paper printed version.
The use of the “e-books” will save time and money in many ways. Enabling to monitor logbook entries remotely and the updating have been made easier.
Several shipping companies took part in Kongsberg’s pilot scheme including Bergesen dy, Geoshipping, FT. Everard, Odfjell, Sartor Shipping, closing
their paper logbooks in favour of Kongsberg Maritime’s advanced paperless solution.
Other flags Administrations that had approved the use of the e-books are; Norway (NOR/NIS),
Sweden, Denmark, Singapore, Isle of Man, United Kingdom, Bahamas, Marshall Islands and Malta.
