Pax Mare is the exclusive agent of Kongsberg, manufacturers of the electronic books.
The electronics books (Crew List, Log Book and Oil record Book – part I) manufactured by Kongsberg has been
authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority for the use on board Panamanian registered ships.
At present no other manufacturer has applied for or been approved by the Panamanian Authorities.
The use of Electronic Books is completely optional and voluntary. The printed version are still in force.
In order to operate the new voluntary and optional system of Electronic Books, it is mandatory to obtain an
appropriate e-book Licence for the vessel issued by the Panamanian Administration.
Pax Mare has been appointed by Kongsberg to obtain on their behalf the Official e-book Licence
for the Panamanian registered vessels wishing to opt for this voluntary system It is advisable that shipping
companies switching to the new system apply immediately upon purchasing of the equipment from Kongsberg,
in order to receive the appropriate e-book Licence(s) without delay
It will be illegal for a Panamanian vessel to operate the e-book system without a valid licence.
The Licences are valid for 12 months and must be renewed and be valid during the period the e-books are operated on board. Companies should complete the appropriate application form according to the e-book(s) purchased,
and send the form(s) duly filled together with all documents required and remittance to Pax Mare to obtain the Licence(s).
